This article covers setting up Mail on iPhone OS 3.2 and lower.
From the home screen, go to:
Settings -> Mail -> Contacts -> Calendar -> Add Account
Tap Other.
You are now at the Account Information screen. Please use the following settings detailed below:
Name: This is the name that will appear in the "From" field when you send e-mails from your iPhone.
Address: Enter the e-mail address of the account you're currently setting up.
Password: Enter the password for this e-mail account.
You are now at the Incoming mail server screen. Please use the settings detailed below:
Host name: This will be the hostname of the mail server that will be used. Set it to mail.domain.com -- ensure that the hostname remains in all lower case.
User name: This is the username used to login to the incoming mail server. It is the same as the e-mail address for this account, set as user@domain.com Again, ensure that it remains in all lower case.
Password: Enter the password for this e-mail account.
You are now at the Outgoing Mail Server screen. Please use the settings detailed below:
Host name: This will be the hostname of the mail server that will be used. Set it to mail.domain.com -- ensure that the hostname remains in all lower case.
User name: This is the username used to login to the outgoing mail server. It is the same as the e-mail address for this account, set as user@domain.com -- since we do not allow anonymous SMTP, if you do not specify the correct username, you will not be able to send mail from this mobile account. Again, ensure that it remains in all lower case.
Password: Enter the password for this e-mail account.
When you continue, the iPhone will most likely warn you with the following message:
"Secure Connection Failed "user@mydomain.com" may not be valid."
Hit continue. The SSL provided by the server is self-signed. It's fully functional and proper, but was simply written by us, and not a Certificate Authority.
